Part 1

Taking Your Mold Impression

Read First

One Shot Per Tray

Please read every step before opening the putty. Each tray only has enough material for one attempt.

Your kit includes 1 upper impression tray, 1 lower impression tray, and blue and white impression putty. Only complete the impression your order needs:

  • Top grillz: complete the upper impression
  • Bottom grillz: complete the lower impression
  • Top and bottom grillz: complete both impressions
Step 1

Get Ready

  • Brush your teeth thoroughly.
  • Wash and completely dry your hands before handling the putty.
  • Do not use the mold kit if you currently have braces.
Step 2

Mix the Putty

For each impression, use 1 full blue putty and 1 full white putty.

Mix both pieces together for approximately 45–60 seconds, until the putty becomes one even color with no white streaks. Once mixed, move quickly to the next step.

Step 3

Load the Tray

Roll the mixed putty into a thick, even shape and place it inside the tray. Place slightly more putty toward the front of the tray and above the tray walls. This helps capture your full teeth and most of the gum line.

Step 4

Make the Impression

Center the tray over your teeth. Using your fingers, press the tray firmly and evenly:

  • Press upward for the upper teeth
  • Press downward for the lower teeth

Do not bite down on the tray. Once the tray is fully pressed over your teeth, start your timer.

Step 5

Hold for 6 Minutes

Hold the tray firmly with your fingers for the entire 6 minutes, or until the mixed blue material is completely firm. Keep the tray as still as possible.

Do not:

  • Talk
  • Bite down
  • Shift the tray
  • Rock the tray
  • Remove it early
Step 6

Gently Remove the Tray

Once the putty is fully firm, gently remove the tray from your mouth. Do not yank, twist, rinse, wash, trim, or remove the putty from the tray.

Quality Check

Check Your Mold

A usable mold should show:

  • The complete shape of your teeth
  • Most of the gum line around the teeth
  • Clear, deep tooth details
  • No major holes, missing areas, or blurry sections
Approval — Required

Upload Your Mold for Approval

Immediately after removing the tray, take one clear, straight-on photo looking directly into the finished mold. Keep the putty inside the tray.

If your order includes both top and bottom grillz, upload clear photos of both completed molds.

Do not mail your mold until STL Grillzz approves it.

Part 2

Wearing Your Grillz

Step 1

Brush and Rinse First

Always brush your teeth and rinse your mouth before putting your grillz on. A clean mouth means no food particles trapped between the gold and your enamel — better for your teeth and your grillz.

Step 2

Hold at the Edges

Pick up the grillz by the sides — not the front face. This keeps fingerprints and oils off the visible gold and gives you better control.

Step 3

Line Up and Press

Hold the grillz in front of the correct teeth and gently press inward. They should glide on and snap into place with light, even pressure. A slight click or resistance means they’ve locked onto the tooth contours from your mold.

Step 4

Never Force Them

If they don’t go on smoothly, stop. Forcing grillz can bend the gold or scratch your teeth. Check that you have the correct piece (top vs. bottom), make sure your teeth are dry, and try again gently. If the fit has changed, contact us.

While Wearing

Never Do This

  • Eat food — chewing can bend or crack the metal and trap debris
  • Drink anything except water — sugary or acidic drinks get trapped under the gold
  • Sleep in them — overnight wear causes bacteria buildup and enamel damage
  • Smoke or vape — residue stains the gold

Part 3

Removing Your Grillz

Step 1

Use Your Tongue First

Press the back of the grillz with your tongue from the inside. This breaks the suction against your teeth and loosens the piece enough to grab.

Step 2

Pop Off From the Back

Use a fingernail to gently push the grillz outward from behind. Work one side at a time — once one side releases, the other follows easily.

Step 3

Don’t Pull From the Front

Never grab the front of the grillz and yank forward. That stresses the metal and can warp the shape over time. Release from the back first and the piece comes off naturally.

Part 4

Cleaning Your Grillz

Step 1

Rinse Right After Removing

As soon as you take your grillz off, rinse them under warm (not hot) running water — before saliva and residue dry on.

Step 2

Scrub With Mild Soap

Put a small drop of mild dish soap on a soft-bristle toothbrush. Gently scrub all surfaces — front, back, inside contours, and around any diamond settings — with light, circular motions.

Step 3

Rinse and Dry

Rinse until all soap is gone, then pat completely dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Never put grillz away wet — trapped moisture promotes tarnish and bacteria.

Danger List

Never Use These on Your Grillz

  • Toothpaste — abrasive; scratches solid gold
  • Baking soda or salt scrubs — same problem
  • Bleach, peroxide, or household cleaners
  • Ultrasonic jewelry cleaners — can loosen diamond settings
  • Hot water — can warp your custom fit
  • Pools and hot tubs — chlorine damages gold over time

Part 5

Storing Your Grillz

Step 1

Always Use the Case

Your grillz come with a protective case — use it every time. It keeps your piece from getting scratched, bent, or lost. Traveling? Keep the case in a secure interior pocket, not loose in a bag.

Step 2

Keep Away From Heat

Extreme heat — like a car dashboard in summer — can warp a custom-fitted piece. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Step 3

Skip the Paper Towels

Paper and tissue can micro-scratch gold and hold moisture against the metal. Stick to the case and a soft cloth.

Golden Rule

Clean Before Storing, Every Time

Never put grillz away dirty. Even a little saliva residue left overnight encourages bacteria and tarnish. The 2-minute rinse-and-dry after every wear is the single best thing you can do for your piece long-term.
